Reminder: Our Electric kilns are only for firings of up to 1200c maximum.

CPS does not allow the single firing of raw glazed work

 

Bookings need to be made at least a week in advance.
Bring your work in on the day of packing as there is no storage in the kiln shed.

Kilns
for hire

Canberra Potters has ElectricGasSoda and Raku kilns for members to hire.
You must have the appropriate Canberra Potters kiln license to hire a kiln.
 
A flat fee is charged for the hire of all kilns except for Raku kilns.
Booking periods are generally 3 or 4 days for Electric4 days for Gas and Soda kilnwith 1 day needed for the Raku kiln.

Kiln hire does not include access to Canberra Potters glazes. We are happy to provide the recipes for our glazes or you can elect to use the glazes and pay at the glaze and fire rate.

To hire a kiln you must have the appropriate Canberra Potters kiln licence.
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST HAVE AN UP-TO-DATE MEMBER ORIENTATION TO BOOK A KILN. UPDATES ARE REQUIRED EVERY TWELVE MONTHS TO MAINTAIN CURRENCY.

Electric Kiln Knowledge Test

This course is required to demonstrate your knowledge of firing the electric kiln after completing your course at Canberra Potters. Once completed your test will be marked and you will be advised of the next step in procuring your full license to fire at Canberra Potters. If you renewing your kiln firing license please contact education@canberrapotters to discuss the steps for this process.
