Adult Pottery Classes

Canberra Potters offers a program of classes which are designed for all levels of skill and experience, from the absolute beginner to the independent ceramic artist.

We run 9 week courses during the ACT school terms, as well as short courses and master classes throughout the year.

We are an accessible venue and welcome people with disabilities into our classes, with some classes offering extra support for people with disabilities.

Health & Safety practices are in place for all classes. Please be aware that changes may occur at short notice based on current government health & safety advice. Please ensure your email and phone details are correct on booking so we can contact you if required.

Please note – Canberra Potters do not offer make up classes for missed classes.

Please read or Terms and Conditions before you book any class.

Which class is suitable for me?

Beginner

Introduction to Clay – Our 9-week Introduction to Clay course is aimed for those wanting to begin learning ceramic skills or returning to pottery after a break away. This is the perfect class to become exposed to the many aspects of pottery, in a supportive and fun environment.

Continuing Beginner – Our Continuing Beginners Pottery course is designed for those who have completed an Introduction to Clay class and are eager to develop their skills further. This course offers a nurturing environment where you can revisit the techniques you’ve learned, build confidence, and explore new creative possibilities with the ongoing support of an experienced pottery teacher.

Continuing Clay with Additional Support – Join our inclusive Continuing Clay classes to refine your skills in hand building and wheel throwing at your own pace. With experienced teachers and additional support for participants with disabilities, these classes provide a safe and welcoming environment for all. These classes are suitable for beginners through to intermediate and advanced students.

Intermediate

Clay Foundations – Our 9 week Clay Foundations classes focus on specific skills and techniques for those who already have some clay knowledge. Classes in our program include wheel throwing, hand building and sculpture classes as well as other specialist skills and techniques.

Advanced

Continuing Clay – Our 9 week Continuing Clay classes are our most self-directed courses. They are aimed for people with existing clay knowledge and skills, and who are seeking expert guidance from our experienced teachers to undertake more self-directed work. Some classes also provide supported teaching for people with disabilities.
