Canberra Potters Watson Arts Centre

There’s no better opportunity to come and explore the Watson Arts Centre and discover what Canberra Potters can do with clay. We are brimming with expert potters and ceramic artists who will provide you with a day of demonstrations, hands-on activities, exhibitions, shop sales, open studios, trade and information tables. As a ACT Key Arts Organisation and the only one dedicated to ceramics, we pride ourselves on our knowledge, skill and outstanding facility which provides an essential centre of activity to the region’s ceramic artists.
Have you ever wanted to try the potters wheel? Now’s your chance! Spend some time making clay creatures with the young and young at heart, and watch our talented demonstrators create new pieces right in front of you. Our ever popular Raku firing will be operating throughout the day too, where under our guidance, you can buy a pot and glaze it and behold the alchemy of the Raku kiln!
Visit our artist studios, enjoy the annual Members’ Exhibition, and stoke your passion for clay. Woodfired pizza, coffee and refreshments available on the day.

No ATM facilities (nearest ATM is a 5min drive at the Watson Shops), however we do accept EFTPOS for most events.

Working Bee

Starts 10.00am
1 Aspinall Street Watson
17 October 2019
It’s that time of term again, and we need your help! Our next working bee will be just before our forth term starts, on Thursday 17 October from 9:30am. This one is our major working bee for the year, as it gets us ready for our Open Day on 3 November. Our working bees are an important part of keeping our facilities running smoothly throughout the term, and we are always very grateful to the volunteers who donate their time and elbow grease!
You don’t need to stay for the whole day (although you can) just come in and do a job or two from the list.
Tasks include:
– Clean hand tools/equipment in the workshops and glaze shed
– Wipe down tables, tidy shelves in workshops
– General clean and tidy
– Clean windows
– Clean cobwebs from the eaves/verandas
– Sweep/rake outside
– Quick garden tidy (picking up rubbish, pulling up any obvious weeds)
– High pressure hose outdoor areas

Please contact Mark via email at [email protected] to let him know you’re coming. We will be providing the hard working team with a lunch and refreshments.
