Overview: Join us to delve into the world of ceramics with the esteemed artist David Ray. Renowned for his flamboyant Baroque style and insightful commentary on contemporary culture, David will guide participants through a five-day immersive masterclass.
We are delighted to have one of Australia's most respected ceramic artists, David Ray for this five-day demonstration and hands-on workshop. David is an experienced teacher of ceramics. Not only will you see him demonstrate his spontaneous, gestural approach to ceramics and hear him discuss his development and career, you will also be guided to make a piece of your own ceramics based on his fun and flamboyant technique.
The course will focus on hand-building - making shapes and cutting them up to construct a dynamic form incorporating sprig moulds (students will make their moulds as part of the class)

David Ray is a contemporary ceramic artist based in the Yarra Valley, Victoria His works challenge conventions with their wild and flamboyant aesthetics. Graduating with Honors of Fine Arts (Ceramics) from RMIT, Melbourne in 1995, David has established himself as one of Australia's leading ceramic artists.
His artworks are held in prestigious collections worldwide, including the National Gallery of Victoria and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Recipient of multiple art awards, David is not only an accomplished artist but also an experienced educator, having taught at RMIT University, Holmesglen TAFE, and various schools across Australia.
As a public speaker and workshop facilitator, David brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for ceramics to each interaction.
