About the Festival
Please note that all experience bookings are now BOOKED OUT.
After a flaming success in 2021, Canberra Potters is excited to present Fired Up 2022: a festival celebrating Canberra’s ceramics community. We love sharing the power of pottery, which helps build resilience and promote the health and wellbeing of our community.
Altering the simple, earthly material that is our primary medium into diverse and vibrant art provides an opportunity to come together, to understand and process the experiences of the last years and celebrate our achievements as artists and as a community. Fired Up 2022 will exhibit a rich and diverse event with multiple facets for audience engagement. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in pre-booked user experiences such as our ever popular “Have a Go, Have a Throw” event where visitors get to try making objects on the pottery wheel, or through our “Raku Firing” where visitors are able to glaze pre-made ceramic sculptures and watch them get fired in the raku kilns right in front of them! (BOOKED OUT).
Our resident artists will throw open their studios and welcome visitors into the makers world and offer opportunity to purchase original artwork directly from the maker. In addition our Market and Retail Shop will be offering an array of ceramic wares, jewellery and decorative items created by some of the region’s best known ceramic artists. Food and drinks will be available to purchase from selected vendors (see below), with visitors invited to buy handmade bowls by Canberra Potters members and students, and have them filled with delicious warming home made soup for free. Musicians will add to an atmosphere of cozy conviviality as our artists share their enthusiasm of the ceramic art form among the community.
Come and connect with us through clay at Canberra Potters.

Food, Drinks & Entertainment
Our ever-popular “soup and a bowl” event is back! Visitors are invited to buy handmade bowls by Canberra Potters members and students, and have them filled with delicious warming home made soup for free. This year we’re also introducing a “mug and mulled wine” deal: you buy a mug from our shop and we’ll fill it with warming mulled wine for free!
Soup and mulled wine not you thing? Sylvie & Bruno Coffee will be providing all of your coffee, tea and hot chocolate needs (and Poffetjes!), Bentspoke Brewing Co. will be covering all other drinks, and delicious, fresh potato rosti and curries will be available from The Hot Skillet.
Ariana Strmota will be entertaining the crowds on guitar and voice from 3-5pm, and listen to the smooth sounds of the Dylan Slater Duo between 5:30-8pm.
Canberra Potters takes the health and safety of our staff and visitors seriously. Our spaces and activities are being managed in relation to the current CovidSAFE social distancing and hygiene guidelines. Please follow signage and staff directions while on site.
