Dark Clay is our new week night hybrid, more than just using the member workshop but not the full commitment of a term class.

Do you need a few weeks studio time to:

  • Complete a project or commission?
  • Have a bit of extra time to work on your class projects?

OR

  • Need the discipline of booked time or the community of other potters to feel motivated?
  • Just want a few weeks to create a project without needing a full term of classes?

Dark Clay is a space where Canberra Potters Members can come together to use the facilities after hours on a week night evening. Bookings are in 4 week blocks over 4 Thursday nights. There will be two blocks each term. Book one block or book both. Come into Canberra Potters and use our Facilities in Workshop One and the Glaze Room to work on your own projects.

Participants will have access to Workshop One and the Glaze Shed.

A dedicated time to work on your own project in company with others or just relax into your own space and create.

A Canberra Potters Teacher will be present to assist participants, answer any questions, and lend a general helping hand with equipment access and the facilities but not to teach skills. The staff member will only be supervising or providing some light advice/mentoring, therefore if you are after a taught workshop or term class, please look to our Learn page for upcoming courses.

If you’ve taken any of our intro courses or are already working on your own projects but would like the company of other potters or the additional space and facilities this is perfect for you.

All Dark Clay participants must have a current membership, have completed one term class, or have demonstrated clay experience and have an up to date Health & Safety orientation.

You will be able to purchase clay and pay for firing during the sessions.

To maintain a safe & healthy environment we ask all participants to bring their own basic pottery toolkit and batts if they own them, a cleaning sponge and clean towels.
