Continuing Clay Classes: Explore, Create, and Refine Your Skills

Join our Continuing Clay classes, where experienced potters guide you through the art of hand building and wheel throwing. Whether you’re looking to refine your techniques or explore new creative avenues, our classes provide the perfect environment to develop your skills and bring your ideas to life.

Continuing Clay classes are designed to cater to individual interests and projects, offering a supportive atmosphere where you can work at your own pace. Each term may have a specific theme or focus, tailored to the group’s shared interests, adding an extra layer of inspiration to your creative journey.

Our well-resourced studios are fully equipped with everything you need to succeed. Enjoy the comfort of our heated and cooled spaces, with access to Canberra Potters glazes included in your class fee, ensuring your creations are completed to the highest standard.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and encouraging environment for all participants, including those with disabilities. We offer additional support with an additional studio assistant in Continuing Clay classes to ensure everyone has the opportunity to develop their creativity at Canberra Potters.

All our Continuing Clay instructors are accomplished potters, proficient in both wheel throwing and hand building techniques, and have up-to-date Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) status.

What to Expect:

  • Experienced Tuition: Benefit from the knowledge and support of skilled potters who will guide you through every step of the process.
  • Additional Support: This class is open to anyone who wants to do a Continuing Clay class. It has both a Teacher and Assistant to provide some additional support for participants with disabilities.
  • NDIS: For participants wanting to use their NDIS plan to access classes please email education@canberrapotters.com.au for details on costs and invoicing. Canberra Potters is NOT an NDIS provider but can arrange an invoice to send to your Plan Manager if requested.
  • Studio Access: Use our fully equipped studios during your class time, with all necessary tools and facilities at your disposal.
  • Project Support: Explore your own ideas and projects with expert guidance, whether you’re continuing a previous piece or starting something entirely new.
  • Flexible Themes: Engage with term themes or focuses inspired by the group’s collective interests.

While this is class provides additional support, people with disabilities are welcome to enrol in any of our classes. Canberra Potters is committed to making reasonable adjustments where required to ensure an inclusive experience for all participants.

Important Information

  • Duration: Three hours per week for a nine-week term.
  • *Fees: Includes tuition, studio access, and access to Canberra Potters glazes. Clay and firing costs are additional and are charged separately.Participants booking through their NDIS plan have a different price structure to include clay and firing. Please contact the Education Program Manager for details.
  • What to Bring: Please bring your basic pottery toolkit, a cleaning sponge, an apron, and clean towels. Wear sturdy, enclosed shoes, tie back long hair, and leave any precious jewellery at home for safety.
  • Studio Clean-Up: To maintain a safe and healthy environment, it is a requirement of class attendance that participants clean their workspaces and assist with the general clean-up of the workshop at the end of each class.

Terms and Conditions

Refund Policy – Classes & Short Courses:

  • Class fees will be refunded, less a 10% admin fee, if cancellation is notified more than 10 business days before the first class date.
  • If less than 10 business days’ notice is given then a refund, less 10%, will only be given if the place can be taken by another student otherwise the full fee is forfeited.
  • Please view your booking as a commitment to attend.
  • Classes cannot be transferred from one term to another or one year to another.
  • If a class is cancelled due to lack of enrolments, 100% of your class fee will be refunded.
  • All changes to bookings and refunds incur a 10% administration fee.
  • Canberra Potters will not issue refunds for missed classes or missed emails. Please ensure you have saved the following Canberra Potters emails to your contact list.
  • Canberra Potters is a teaching facility and students attend our classes to learn about pottery. Imperfect, broken and cracked items are part of the learning process. We do not provide refunds for work that cracks or breaks while drying, during firing or in general class activities.

Booking Policy

  • Canberra Potters does not offer make up classes.
  • Payment in full is required as the time of booking to secure a place.
  • CPS member discounts apply to course fees.
  • All bookings are made by accessing our website
  • All prices are subject to change.
  • Classes are run subject to numbers.
  • Once a class has commenced no refunds will be issued.

Member Discounts

  • Member discounts must be applied at time of booking classes online. We are unable to apply member discounts retrospectively.
