FIRED UP 2026 – SATURDAY 15 AUGUST, 3PM – 8PM
Soup Bowl & Tumbler Fundraiser Expressions of Interest – open until Thursday 21 May
Held over one afternoon and evening during the month of August, Fired Up is Canberra Potters’ annual winter event celebrating Canberra Potters as a hub of ceramic making, creativity and community. The event showcases all the things we know and love about Canberra Potters, attracting new audiences and potential students and welcoming the public to experience the joy and skill and community of pottery making, as part of a festival-like environment.
Offering a dynamic program of demonstrations, ‘have a go’ activities, markets, food, music and entertainment, the event has historically proven one of our most highly anticipated and attended calendar events with over 1200 people visiting throughout the day in 2024.
Staging large scale events is costly and we need your help to make this event as successful as possible. The Soup and Bowl offering has in the past been hugely popular and we are hoping to run this initiative again but instead of just breaking even, raise funds to contribute towards the event’s running costs.
The 2026 Soup Bowl & Tumbler Fundraiser will offer the visiting public the opportunity to purchase a handmade work by our talented members, use it and then take it home for ongoing enjoyment. Bowls and tumblers will be able to be purchased, filled onsite with warming soup, mulled wine, or non-alcoholic cider at the Winter Warmer stall, then washed for their homeward journey.
This year our fundraiser will offer a 2 cup capacity bowl, and a 1 cup capacity tumbler. Artists will be paid a flat rate per sold item. In previous years, bowls and tumblers have sold out!
Please note, if you are using the Canberra Potters kilns, you will need to pay for firing as normal through ‘weigh and pay’ or the kiln booking service. If you let us know that they are for the Fired Up fundraiser when you bring your pieces in, we will prioritise getting them through the kilns where possible.
Love making but don’t want to be paid? Donate your artist fee to our fundraiser, and we will provide the rest!
Volunteer your time and making skills, and we can provide the clay, glazes, workshop, and firing! Email Leah at shop@canberrapotters.com.au for more information.
Participation in the Soup Bowl & Tumbler Fundraiser is open to all Canberra Potters members. The Expression of Interest is not a competitive application process, but helps us plan for the event and know how many items we should expect.
