Overview

The program is designed for both specialist and non–specialist art teachers who need to teach Visual Art as part of the Australian curriculum, such as primary school teachers.

What you will learn

The program focusses on the using the language of art as a tool to build student understanding of art. This understanding of language scaffolds discussion for both students to explain why they prefer one artwork over another and to make judgements about how to make better artworks themselves.

The Course includes

We will use the understanding of art language to respond to Artworks in the Society’s Collection and make and decorate simple ceramic pieces.
Activities to take back and use in your classroom will be provided, all of which can be done without specialist equipment or supplies.
We will also discuss practical ideas for working with clay in your classroom.
