SOUP BOWLS

Fired Up 2021 was a booming success and the ‘Soup and Bowl’ stall was a highlight. The premise is people can buy the bowl and we’ll fill it with soup. Yum! Throw, slab, pinch – whatever your style, we need people to make pots!

Bowl requirements:

  • Glazed, fired and finished.
  • Food safe glazes only.
  • Stable on flat surface, i.e. no rocking.
  • Sanded bases.

We will pay you!

All bowls will be reviewed to ensure they are suitable for this event. If your bowl/s are deemed unsuitable, we will return them to you.

If you would like to see an example of a small and large bowl from last year, samples will be available to view on request in the shop during regular opening hours.

If you are going to put your soup bowls through the Canberra Potters kilns, you will need to pay for them as normal through the weigh and pay system. If you let us know that they’re bowls for the Fired Up stall when you bring them in, we will prioritise them through the kilns where possible.

Love making but don’t want to be paid?

Volunteer your time and bowl making skills, and we will provide the clay and workshop access! If this sounds up your alley, send an email to Abbey at [email protected].

RAKU CRITTERS AND CREATIONS

We will be hosting booked raku sessions again for this years Fired Up festival. Participants will choose from a range of bisque fired ‘Critters and Creations’. The chosen piece will get fired and then sent home with the participant to enjoy.

 ‘Critters and Creations’ requirements

  • NO functional vessels that could be used for food or drinks.
  • Planters are acceptable if they have a hole in the base.
  • Stable, flat base so the piece doesn’t roll in the kiln.
  • Keep it simple and robust. Raku isn’t always gentle so avoid fragile embellishments.
  • Made of raku suitable clay.

See the image below for examples of the kinds of pieces we’re after!

Creations can be delivered to the shop either raw or bisque fired.
