Class overview

This one day workshop will expose you to a new way of exploring the surface of three dimensional forms. Marianne will present her recent studies of propaganda porcelain from the USSR in the 1920s. She will demonstrate her throwing techniques with porcelain. She will lead participants through new ways to express their images and ideas drawing and discovering the possibilities of the surface of three dimensional forms.

Workshop 1

The Workshop includes

  • Participants will need to bring a minimum of three leather-hard simple forms – cups, bowls, etc
  • They can be hand-built and or wheel thrown.
  • Please note – All forms must be leather-hard and very firm in order to be drawn on and coloured with Marianne’s techniques.

About the artist

Marianne Huhn will be our artist in residence from mid March to early June. Marianne studied at RMIT University completing a Master of Ceramics in 1998. She has lectured and taught Ceramics at Universities and schools throughout Australia. Marianne makes functional ceramics that explore and play with architectural themes and text on the surfaces.
Marianne has held several solo shows in Australia and exhibited in more than 30 group exhibitions in Australia, America, and Hong Kong.
She has been acquired by the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and several Regional Galleries in Australia.
