Workshop 1

The Workshop includes

During five balmy January evenings with Jackie you will explore creating creatures that you have emotional connections with, learning new skills whilst working with in your own capabilities and experience. Jackie will share the techniques she uses and finds helpful for constructing sculptural pieces using no armature.  The first four sessions we will concentrate on building techniques and textures, taking into account the importance of design and facial and body expressions.

What you will learn

The last evening we will do final colouring and glazing on the bisqued ware.
Your finished creature will be weatherproof and happy to live inside or out, even in the Canberra climate!

About the artist

Includes bisque and glaze firings but not clay. Clay will be available for purchase at the workshop, Jackie recommends using Feeney’s BRT.
Jackie is a sculptural artist living and working in Canberra. She previously lived for 30 years on a country block south of Canberra. Throughout this time she formed close relationships with birds and animals, both wild and domestic.  Living rurally, the light, colours and textures of the Monaro have influenced her finished surfaces.
