This course is perfect for those wanting to start to learn how to throw clay on a potter’s wheel.

  • Session 1 & 2 - Get a feel for clay and its properties through a focus on the potter’s wheel. This includes - how to wedge and centre clay in preparation for throwing and how to form cylinders and other shapes to make bowls, bud vases, beakers and other open forms.
  • Session 3 - Learn how to refine your shapes by trimming your pots on the potter’s wheel.
  • Session 4 - Learn how to prepare your bisqued fired pots for glazing and how to glaze in preparation for a final firing in the kiln.

Clay, firing and a basic pottery toolkit are provided. Fired work can be collected approximately 4 weeks after your final class from the kiln shed verandah.
