Get Creative This Summer Holiday with Pottery Classes for Tweens and Teens!
Looking for a way to keep your tweens and teens engaged and inspired these Summer holidays? Our pottery classes offer the perfect opportunity to get them out of the house and immersed in creativity!
What to Expect:
Holidays are a fantastic time to explore new passions and tackle creative challenges. Under the guidance of our experienced pottery tutors, students will learn how to throw and trim simple forms on the potter’s wheel. They’ll have the chance to create pieces like bowls, pen holders, bud vases, or anything else their imaginations spark excitement for!
We will glaze and fire up to six of their favourite creations, which will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after the class from our kiln shed verandah. Whether they’re new to pottery or have some experience, this class is perfect for tweens and teens aged 10 and up who are eager to explore the art of wheel throwing.
Who’s Welcome:
This class is open to young people aged 10+, from absolute beginners to those with some experience on the potter's wheel.
All tuition, clay, glazing, and the firing of up to 6 creations are included in the course.
Important Details:
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary. This class is open to school-aged children 10+ years.
- What to Wear: Relaxed clothing and sturdy covered shoes are required. Long hair should be tied back, and precious jewellery should be left at home.
- What to Bring: Participants should bring a cleaning sponge, hand towel, lunch, snacks, and a drink for the day.
- Duration: The class runs from 9 am to 1 pm for 2 days. Day 1 is concentrated on throwing. Day 2 on trimming and decorating.
- What do we need to know: Is there anything we need to know to help your child get the most out of the day? These can be discussed in confidence with the Education Program Manager, Sue Cant, at [email protected] or on 02 62411670 prior to the class.
- Fees: Includes tuition, clay, resources, glazing, and firing of up to six pieces.
- Studio Clean-Up: To maintain a safe and healthy environment, participants are required to clean their workspaces and assist with the general clean-up of the workshop at the end of the class. We ask parents to discuss this with their teens and tweens prior to the workshop.
For Parents and Carers Supporting a Child with Additional Needs:
- Please contact us at [email protected] so we can ensure reasonable adjustments are made.
- Attendance of a parent or guardian in the class is subject to Canberra Potters' discretion, a current Working with Vulnerable People card, health & safety practices, and availability.
- For health & safety reasons, children under 6 years are not permitted in the workshops.
This holiday break, give your tweens and teens the chance to dive into the creative world of pottery!
