Are you ready to get your hands dirty and start learning how to throw clay on a potter’s wheel? This short course is designed for beginners looking to develop foundational pottery skills in a supportive and fun environment.

Over four hands-on Sunday sessions, you’ll explore the key techniques of wheel throwing and discover the joy of working with clay:

  • Session 1 & 2: Get to know the clay! Learn how to wedge and centre your clay in preparation for throwing, and practice forming simple cylinders and shapes to create bowls, bud vases, beakers, and more.
  • Session 3: Refine your forms with trimming techniques to give your pots a clean, professional finish.
  • Session 4: Glaze day! Prepare your bisque-fired pieces for glazing and learn how to apply a glaze to make your creations kiln-ready.

All materials, including clay, glazing, and firing, are included in the course fee, as well as a basic pottery toolkit. Your fired pieces will be ready for collection from the kiln shed approximately four weeks after the course.
