Join our beginner-friendly pottery glaze class, where you'll dive into the art of creating and experimenting with glazes. This course is designed for those who are just starting their journey into the colorful world of glazing.

No prior glaze testing experience is required. Participants will need to have completed at least one Canberra Potters term class or have a basic grasp of glazing concepts from previous pottery experience. If you are not sure if you have the requisite experience please contact [email protected] and we'll be happy to help you make the right decision.

Throughout the course, you will explore essential topics such as glaze theory, glaze ingredients, firing techniques, problem-solving for glaze-related issues, analysing test outcomes, crafting test tiles, mastering tools and equipment, and honing your glaze application skills.

As a beginner glaze enthusiast, you will have the opportunity to craft and fire numerous glaze test batches over the term. You'll embark on a journey of discovery, experimenting with various glaze types, and gradually developing your personal palette of glazes.

In this course, you'll have hands-on experience testing glazes for midfire oxidation firing. The course fee covers handouts, glaze materials, and all firing expenses, however clay is not included, and will be an additional cost.

Canberra Potters is committed to providing a safe environment for all our staff, members and students. We ask you to keep our community safe by following all safe protocols & signage while on site.

To maintain a safe & healthy environment we ask all participants to bring their own basic pottery toolkit.
