Continuing Beginners Pottery: Build Confidence and Refine Your Skills

Prerequisite - This course is suitable for those who have completed an Introduction to Clay course at Canberra Potters

Our Continuing Beginners Pottery course is designed for those who have completed an Introduction to Clay class and are eager to develop their skills further. This course offers a nurturing environment where you can revisit the techniques you’ve learned, build confidence, and explore new creative possibilities with the ongoing support of an experienced pottery teacher.

Course Focus: This course is perfect for those who want to spend more time honing their emerging pottery skills in a fun and supportive setting. You’ll have the opportunity to reinforce and expand upon the foundational techniques introduced in your previous class, gaining deeper insight and practical experience.

  • Skill Reinforcement: Revisit the key techniques learned in your Introduction to Clay class, such as basic handbuilding (pinching, coiling, and slab work), wheel throwing, trimming and glazing. This course allows you to practice these skills at your own pace, ensuring you gain a solid and confident understanding.
  • Creative Exploration: With access to both wheel and handbuilding resources, you’ll have the flexibility to work on your own projects, guided by your personal interests and creative vision. The teacher will be there to provide tailored advice, helping you to bring your ideas to life.
  • Increased Confidence: This course is designed to help you gain confidence in working with clay, whether you’re focusing on refining your technique, experimenting with new forms, or exploring surface decoration and glazing. The supportive environment encourages you to take creative risks and develop your unique style.

What You’ll Achieve: By the end of this course, you’ll have enhanced your pottery skills, gained greater confidence in your abilities, and created a range of pieces that reflect your personal growth as a potter. You’ll be better equipped to continue your journey in more advanced classes or pursue independent projects.
