Clay Foundation classes are designed for those who have completed an Introduction to Clay course or have some basic clay skills. These courses focus on the basic skills and techniques already learned to develop and extend your ceramics skills and knowledge.
This Intermediate Wheel class is designed for people with reasonable wheel throwing experience, who have completed a Wheel Basics term class.
Tools, clay and firing are not included can be purchased at Canberra Potters shop or during class.

Our Clay Foundations: Intermediate Wheel course is designed for those with prior wheel experience who want to take their pottery to the next level. This course focuses on enhancing your existing skills and pushing your boundaries in throwing.
Course Overview
This course delves into intermediate-level throwing techniques, offering structured guidance and hands-on practice to improve your craft. You’ll work on creating more complex forms, such as mugs with well-proportioned handles, bowls with refined curves, taller cylinders, and small vases. Through expert instruction, you’ll focus on precision, control, and consistency to elevate your work.

- Trimming Mastery: Perfect your trimming skills to achieve professional-looking bases and proportions.

- Personalised Feedback: Receive targeted advice and demonstrations to address your individual goals and areas for improvement.
- Finishing and Detailing: Explore techniques for finishing your work, including handle attachment and decorative elements, to create functional, aesthetically pleasing pieces.

Important Details
- Duration: Three hours per week for a nine-week term.
- Fees: Includes tuition, studio access, and glazing services. Clay and firing costs are additional and charged separately.
- What to Bring: Please bring your basic pottery toolkit, a cleaning sponge, an apron, and clean towels. Wear sturdy, covered shoes, tie back long hair, and leave any precious jewellery at home for safety.
- Studio Clean-Up: Participants are required to clean their workspaces and assist with the general clean-up of the workshop at the end of each class to maintain a safe and welcoming studio environment.
